The Binding of Isaac
I just had a rather interesting run and felt compelled to share. (Warning, large .gif) http://jakeneal.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/boi-sacred-heart.gif Sacred heart, Tough love, Loki's horns, Mom's eye, Cupid's arrow, and plenty of assorted damage ups. No Polyphemus though, picking it up would have ...

Re: One handed gaming
My surgery went well. I have enough strength back in my fingers to use a keyboard, albeit clumsily. Opens up games like the Binding of Isaac and Hammerwatch. I've already read all the Song of Ice and Fire books, but I'm rereading Clash of Kings since it was the book my dad brought when I asked for r...

Re: One handed gaming
Good call on the emulator. If I rebind some keys I can probably play most classic games. The first thing I did when I got out of hospital was swap my keyboard and mouse around and switch the mouse buttons. I've been surprised at how easy it's been to get accustomed to it. I've also been wondering if...

One handed gaming
Deprived of the option to do anything productive for the next few weeks I've found myself on the lookout for some games to pass the time. I was hoping to gather some suggestions here. However there's a condition: they must be playable using only the left hand. My right is currently in a cast*. I can...

Re: I need help making a decision...
How about getting Cube World (which I was under the impression is still just an alpha with no option to buy yet) and then saving money by trying one of the older Sim Cities instead? Sim City 4 is about a 3rd the cost of the newer one, as well as better rated on metacritic. If the limiting factor is ...

I am in total agreement; Dune is indeed jizz-worthy. So much so that I wore the cover off my original copy, read and reread the many sequels, and even read most of the awful prequels his son put out.

Jake, I know this sounds weird but maybe you should share your images to the Imgur community? It's a very good community and i've seen people with worse art then your get offered jobs and money for the things they draw. The feedbacks good too. So... in the months since you made that comment I went ...

Re: PS4 Highlights!
Well the unfortunate thing is that it sets a trend. Xbox was the odd one out last gen in charging for multiplayer. But if Sony are doing it too now then it's just going to become the standard.
I'm having a hard time mustering any enthusiasm for this new generation.

Re: Getting in shape
I disagree. I did that for a long time and just ended up stuck at a plateau. It wasn't until I started working to exhaustion that I starting seeing improvements again.
That said: don't do it every day, rest is important.

Oh wow, congrats!
I'd never realised you were an animator. May we see the showreel/portfolio you applied with? I have some friends trying to break into animation & it'd be cool to have a benchmark for what it takes.

A painting set in the same universe as the video, showing one of the mages fighting a smaller spirit one on one. Mostly done for fun, since my deadline has already come and gone.

Re: Support and feedback welcomed!
Sounds like a very inefficient way to con people, through donations and $5 application fees. If it is a fake then I expect the goal is to go through with the full selection process and televise it, with everyone except the participants aware that it's a joke. Along the same lines as this show from a...

Re: Support and feedback welcomed!
One way? That sounds like one hell of a commitment to make a decade in advance. Video and sounds quality could use work. Try re-shooting during the day, with a lamp off camera to help fill in the shadows. If you're recording on a laptop try filming test shots in different rooms and see if it improve...

What's up with the graininess? Is that a deliberate effect? It's a nice start, better than my first attempts at 3D at least. Reminds me something a friend of mine made a while back. Are you using reference images, or just making it up as you go? For anyone interested, here's a look at what I've been...

Re: FTL: Faster than light
So after not playing FTL for a while since I had unlocked every ship/layout, I decided to try and get all the achievements on Normal difficulty. Along the way I ended up deciding to push a particular soldier to do his very best. The_Perfect_Soldier.PNG I see your supersoldier, and raise you a team ...

It's the doublechest next to the big blue present. The one just to the left of the crafting table.

Well not putting it online at all isn't much of an option for me. The majority of our marks come from the online blogs we're expected to keep. I do as a rule store the original .psd files locally and only upload .jpegs, but that only works as proof for paintings where I've used layers. I guess my be...

Deviantart is a mixed bag. You do find some exceptionally good artists on there, but you sometimes have to sift your way through a lot of junk to find them.

Imgur has a community? I'd just dismissed it as another image hosting site.
*edit*
I ventured onto the site, but encountered nothing but encountered nothing except .gifs, memes and pet photos. If there is a section for critiquing artwork I was unable to find it.
Thanks all the same.

The same place all the other gifts went. With the giant unfinished christmas tree.
You wouldn't really be depriving me, I wasn't planning on keeping any of it in either instance. I resolved to give away everything I own months ago.
