Hmm, I've never even heard of Kate Nash. I wasn't sure what to expect lookin' at the picture but she's got alot of soul. It's really simple and a little off beat at times but it doesn't even matter, it's got feeling.

Not a fan of sad songs, I don't listen to music to make myself feel depressed.
Not a fan of love songs either, too many of them :/

haha, i hear ya. I used to say the same thing. But I've never listened to music to make myself feel depressed. But I have listened to this music when I'm feeling depressed (it happens....) I never understood it till now either. I'll listen to a song I used to like and never understood what it actually meant. I'll hear that song now and you can almost feel the pain the artist felt.. but it's weird cause it actually feels better =\ I guess I can't explain it.

@what Sti and Cpt were saying: While it is easy to associate a certain emotion with a song based on how the song plays, I wouldn't avoid certain songs just because that's the emotion they are associated with. I would listen to a sad song if I find the song itself good, and it doesn't have to make you feel sad. (For instance, really badly made/shit "happy" songs can make me feel sad.) Sometimes, and I believe this is along the lines of what Cpt was saying, that song is more powerful because of the emotion behind it.
Also, there's a whole host of reasons besides the song's emotional theme that can make you feel quite the opposite of sad. I can't help but feel contentedly immersed in a particularly wonderful melody no matter whether it's sad, brooding and the like. And for me, admiration of the effect the song has had far outweighs the sense of sadness I might get from wishing I could replicate something like it.
So here's my choice:

Once you play the game you will understand why this fills my heart with sorrow...

This song represents pure confusion.

A nice calming song, and then a sad song.

There's always something rather hauntingly sad about a violin. Ignore the "dubstep" part in the title. Not sure why they included that when it sounds nothing like it.

Probably the hardest song to listen to without shedding manly tears for me... Especially since I've said this same thing (in my own words) to someone..
I guess it's just one of those songs where you know that exact Feeeel. It's definitely shitty. But it's a beautiful song.

Oh, duh, can't believe this one wasn't posted.
A great example of how a song doesn't have to be soft to be sad.

Go on that, set it in the Dark/Calm quadrant somewhere, and you've got yourself a playlist of sad songs.

Quite slow song that just fits the mood.
