Re: SOPA - Check this out
I love this guy's voice...
I'll edit this post with my thoughts when I've finished watching.
Edit: Well, that was quite interesting. Until now, I'd never heard of the megavideo song or anything like that.
It's definitely a big issue than I used to think it was.

Re: SOPA - Check this out
Now, call me crazy, but isnt it restricting peoples rights? Specifically the right to freedom. I know it's trying to protect against things like pirating but still

Re: SOPA - Check this out
That's what the whole video is about, Will. It's pointing out everything that is not okay about this bill.

Re: SOPA - Check this out
I know but it does raise the question as to why to suggest it and how anyone would actually let it pass
Spoiler! :
Re: SOPA - Check this out
I guess the only answer anyone can give at this point is "corporate America".
Re: SOPA - Check this out
Because piracy is a problem, and the people passing it aren't very well informed on the issue.Wildwill002 wrote:I know but it does raise the question as to why to suggest it and how anyone would actually let it pass
The staff here are all trolls
Re: SOPA - Check this out
That's the biggest probem i think that has been raised in this which is how the people meant to be deciding what to pass or not have no idea what it means and what it would do if they passed it, my solution is for the US to hire TotalBiscuit and them them whats up.Jake55778 wrote:Because piracy is a problem, and the people passing it aren't very well informed on the issue.Wildwill002 wrote:I know but it does raise the question as to why to suggest it and how anyone would actually let it pass

Eventually congress will fill up with people that don't have to employ other people to use the internet for them in order to get anything done. Until that day arrives, they should really think about restricting themselves when it comes to trying to pass legislation on digital matters.
Or they can listen to lobbyists for advice on what to do next. As we all know, lobbyists equal democracy!

Re: SOPA - Check this out
M'Lord, that is why we have this problem. And they won't change just because they should change. They'll only change if it means they won't be reelected or won't be taken care of anymore by their lobbyists giving them thousands or millions of dollars.
And unfortunately, although the internet is big, the people who would replace the current senators and congressmen would be just the same under a different name.
The only real chance of getting this not passed is threatening to not vote for the people who vote for it, or educating that this is paramount to burning the entire village down because there are a few thieves in it. I have a slight feeling some of them have no clue that what they are voting on in it's current rendition would shut the entire internet down by mere accusation.

Random, I've heard Obama is planning on vetoing SOPA too. I sure hope this is true, this is one of the most disgusting things to come out of the US Congress in a while.
