Train's guide to IRC on your cellular communications device.

It's old but gold. If it could help you out we've probably chucked it in here.

Train's guide to IRC on your cellular communications device.

Post by trainreqx2 » 21 Dec 2011, 10:45

Pretty straightforward guide guise.

Pick your OS:

Android:
Spoiler! :
Step 1: Go to the Android Market and search up: "AndChat" download this app
Step 2: Go Through the original setup, the first nickname you want to in the first box, the app will guide you through the rest.
Step 3: Click the Add "+" button on the top right corner.
Step 4: Fill in the fields as described below:
Name- Escapecraft
Adress- irc.escapecraft.net
Port- 31337
SSL- unchecked
Nick1-3, Username and Realname should be filled out for you I believe, if not, fill them in appropriately.
Autojoin- #mine
Autorun- Leave blank
Password- Leave blank
Encoding- UTF-8
Logs- You may leave checked or unchecked. I believe if you leave it checked, it might take a bit more memory.
Click on the save button in the top right corner.
Step 5: To join, click on the server, and you should be connected! To disconnect, press the back button on your phone, tap the arrow to the left of "Escapecraft," and tap disconnect.
*WARNING*- This program runs consistently, to quit, in the main menu with the server list, you tap on the top right 3 squares, and tap exit.
iOS:
Spoiler! :
Note- This is all freeware, for iOS, there are better IRC apps, but these aren't cheap, so I'm going freeware.
This one is a little more complicated.
Step 1: In the App Store, search for the app "Mango Lite," download it. Depending on your region, you may get an alert saying that the contect is for 17+, ignore that, it's only because it's a chatroom.
Step 2: Open up the app, tap on the top left "Add.."
Step 3: Fill out the information as described below:
Server- irc.escapecraft.net
Port- 31337
Nickname, Username, Real Name- Fill them out accordingly, make sure they're all somewhat different.
Passwrd- Leave blank.
Autojoin- One you fill in channel, you should see "#mine" here.
Channel- type in #mine, the press the "+" button next to it, and it should pup in in Autojoin.
Key- leave blank.
Go up to the top, and tap save.
Step 4: Tap the white circle next to "irc.escapecraft.net", then tap "Connect" on the top right corner.
Step 5: You should now be connected, to disconnect, tap on the top right hand corner, options>disconnect. After exiting the program, double tap the home button to kill it.
*WARNING*- Watch your spelling, this one doesn't have spellcheck, or auto-caps. If you're a spelling freak like me, this might be a pain, but at least it works.
WP7:
Sorry guys, I don't have any phones that use WP7, but if someone makes a guide, I'll be happy to include it here.
