Derg Estate

Greetings,

Some of you may know me well, others not so well perhaps. For those who don't... it's nice to meet you! When I first joined EC, I ventured south and found a wonderful island devoid of people. It was there that I opted to set up an "estate" of sorts, where I built a public safety tower for those who (like furd and afly) sought to go to the southern border of the map and worried about having protection from the mobs. I expanded, and built a house. Dug deep, and found caverns. Created farms, and started building general purpose structures like highways and subways. I decided to call this place "Derg."

My dream for Derg was to keep it au naturel. A land of trees, and nice walkways. Gorgeous buildings built with care. A respect for adapting to nature, not adapting nature to one's self.

I want to open up that dream to you.

I don't believe in cities that are prefabricated. I believe that towns, villages - settlements in general - are organic; they develop and grow as more people move in. They prosper with activity. For this reason, I would like to invite you down to the great untapped south and have you join me at the Derg Estate.

The Derg Estate has and will have much to offer:
  • It is highly connected. I have built a highway leading towards spawn, and one that leads towards Borderpost. The Derg Estate will soon be connected via subway to Borderpost and to Talvelat, Fort Itl and Corinth!
  • Freedom. You can stretch your legs with more land than you could ever need, or choose to have a small plot if desired. You can build up and down without worry. Utilize the soon-to-be many services of the town, and the massive mines that are connected to it. Once your creation is up, I can ensure you that it wont ever be destroyed or removed. That's my pledge to you.
  • Resources. The south is untapped. Endless varieties of forest. Sand galore. Perhaps even clay? You are in close reach to an abundant assortment of resources.
  • Public Farms. Although this is still always in the works, there are farms for food, cactus and other such resources. There are public bread boxes, and other such resource boxes for needed pick-me-ups.
  • Beauty. The Derg Estate is located where the cliffs meet the sea. Beautiful views are available from all sides.
  • Contributions. As a resident of the estate, you have a say in how the estate develops. You matter. I want this to be bottom-up not top-down. If you have an idea, it can be implemented. If you want something done, it can be done. All residents are members of the town leadership.

With that said, there is but one rule outside of the server's rules. To ensure beauty, buildings must be aesthetically pleasing. What is aesthetically pleasing is subjective, but I am hoping that residents will recognize what is aesthetic themselves. Please let me know if you would like to come on down!
