Religion & Politics, two birds with one moronic stone here.

The gist of the story is that a UKIP (that's UK Independence Party, so you know they're not xenophobic) councillor has come out and blamed the recent flooding on the government's decision to legalise gay marriage, because bible.

Not really sure what else to say, it's funny enough on its own. Better keep a lookout for the imminent plagues of locusts.

GAYS R TEH DEV1L. IF GRODON BROWN WAS STRAIGHT WE'D HAVE SUMMER RIGHT NOW, AND NOT CUS OF FLOBA WRAMING.

This is all scientific fact, backed up by the Bible.
Spoiler! :
Not saying all religious people believe these things, act in this way, or are in any way 'bad people.' They are also welcome to interpret the religious text of their choice as they so wish.

Party politics aside, any possible modicum of surprise was instantly thrown out of the window when you reached "councillor".

Sure, national politics is brain-gougingly awful, but it's nothing compared to local politics.

Really? I'd have thought 'UKIP' would have set the alarm bells off.

UKIP is the only real party. They know what's best for us! The EU steal babies and turn them into Soylent Pink.

Recently when I was back home for the holidays, I was listening in on a conversation with my parents and granddad about the politics of the town, there are about 5 judges in town, and the mayor and his people. Suffice to say the ones who aren't corrupted are equally just power-mad, or a dick, or some combination of the three. Although I thought it was humorous he lives two houses away from one of the judges, thought they'd live in a bigger house.

Politics seems to be moronic as a whole right now. Take Cameron and his filters to protect the children. Suddenly this news pops up http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25759345

Who doesn't? just run Firefox from a flash drive at your school usually gets around it there and a simple application install in Chrome already tells old Cameron to bugger off and take his WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!? brigade with him.

Also for the love of newell, UKIP are a fringe party of course they have a few oddballs. However unlike the main parties they actually tend to expel these oddballs when they say something, we have well known antisemetic Lib Dem peers, racist Labour and Tory lords and Councillors but their stuff just tends to get shoved under the rug and they quietly keep their jobs.

And as a final point. In the USA people like that councilor aren't just restricted to local politics but actually use that sort of argument in Congress, the Senate and the committees which determine the future of the country. Just marinate on that for a bit.

Makes you fear what US local politics must be like then.

Depends on the area, some areas are insanely good while others make you run screaming.
