New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Make some characters!
Re: New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Spots available!
Update #13 33 days until ship arrives, and you can make another/new character following the updated guidelines.
Patrick, Uthag, Myles and Frederick were in a tunnel, deciding on what to do next.
"We must escape through the mines, while we still can," Patrick suggested. Several others nodded in agreement.
Frederick looked at the others, thirteen people in total. "I will hold them off and buy you some time."
"No! If we hurry we will make it," protested Myles.
"They are not far behind us. All they have to do is find this door is locked and they will be on our tail. Run; I will hold them off!"
Up above, the Old Man was testing doors by knocking his staff against them. If they didn't open, he smashed them apart. His tapping could be heard by the Frederick, who readied himself. His sword had just been sharpened and he was not afraid.
There was a tap on the door, and a moment of silence. The door was smashed to pieces and Frederick charged at the Old Man, who only managed to get most of his body out of harm' s way. As the Old Man fell to the ground, clutching his leg, Frederick prepared his death blow.
The Old Man stared at Frederick, deciding how to dodge the attack. As Frederick's sword thrust forward, the Old Man slid towards his foe, tripping him up but getting a cut in the chin before Frederick fell.
Frederick used his momentum to his advantage, swinging his legs around himself and against the wall, then jumping towards the Old Man.
The Old Man stared at Frederick, shocked. He had seen many feats of agility in his lifetime, but none like this. His cloak cut easily as the sword slid through his chest.
Frederick looked into his victim's eyes, seeing pain yet acceptance in his elderly foe.
The Old Man fell to his knees, then sideways to the floor.
Just as the Old Man fell, two more natives entered the hallway. One of them, an archer, shot Frederick in the foot. As Frederick tried to limp away, the other one threw a dagger into his back.
Now on the floor, Frederick saw the dagger-thrower approach him. His back went into agony as his foe twisted the knife, pulled it out and stabbed again.
Frederick Joseph's eyes stared blankly at the wall until his body was kicked out of the way.
Way down the tunnel, nearing the cave, the pilgrims heard a bloodcurdling scream. Some of them paused for a second, but they kept on going.
Six mercenaries went down the tunnel, following footprints and hearing the echoes of the pilgrims' footsteps.
At the end of the tunnel, the pilgrims began climbing up a ladder in the cave. Once they were all up, they knocked it out from beneath their feet and continued on, heading out of the cave and into the forest.
In the forest, Frederick, Aiten and Entreri were resting. Entreri taught Frederick some more of his language while Aiten recovered from the smoke inhalation and some minor burns. While teaching Frederick some more words, Entreri and Frederick noticed the pilgrims fleeing. Frederick ran up to them and asked if anyone else had made it aside from the twelve there. The answer was a large shock.
Frederick explained to the pilgrims that Aiten and Entreri did not wish for war, and that the kingdom was now under control of a ruthless fascist.
The survivors headed towards the village Entreri described, hoping to recover and soon take back their settlement, while Entreri longed for his throne.
When they reached the village, Entreri was welcomed with open arms. Even the guards, who had sworn an oath to the crown - a crown which now despised Entreri - welcomed him. The survivors were offered food and shelter, and Frederick began explaining the natives' language to the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, The Shadow had captured Gunter and was interrogating him.

Re: New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Spots available!
After interrogating Gunter, I let him go free, but use my vial of poison to ensure I am not followed. I do not make the wound anything but a small prick in the finger.
I will, using the intelligence gathered, try and find Enteri and talk with him. I do not wish to make contact with the pilgrims until talking to Enteri. I hope to learn his intentions. If he does not trust me, I choose this moment to reveal my identity to him.

Did I mention I also refill my vial while he was stunned before leaving? Right in front of his face.

To quote Yahtzee:
I'll even accept that getting a 7 foot katana rammed through your torso is totally survivable... if a little bit homoerotic

I thought it was implied that a sword through the chest meant death, apparently not.Jake55778 wrote:To quote Yahtzee:...getting an 8 foot katana rammed through your chest is totally survivable... if a little bit homoerotic
Also, what's your decision?

So he's dead although it is survivable...okay...

Hey, at least we took out the old man :3
Ill get patrick to practice his agility, he would barely be able to dodge a blooming sloth with that agility. Get him to practice running, jumping over things etc. If needed try and set up a makeshift obstacle course for the village using old logs etc.
Aiten will socialise with the other natives, see what they know about the current situation.

:P at least he lived a full life

Given the time period "full life" probably means mid 40s
(According to quick google search the average life expectancy in 1000 AD was a depressingly low 24)

And Old Man was in his 90s, so yeah. It was time for him to die, through natural means or a sword rammed through his chest.Jake55778 wrote:Given the time period "full life" probably means mid 40s

Re: New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Spots available!
Update #14 32 days until ship arrives, and you are welcome to create a(nother) character following the updated guidelines.
The Shadow did not find Gunter's information very helpful. From what he had managed to extract from the man, it seemed as though Aiten Javenkis had walked into the town and given himself up, though The Shadow had already figured that out. What was useful was mention of the direction Frederick König (Oh, right, I don't have to say his last name all the time anymore because the other Frederick is dead) had taken Entreri in.
The Shadow released Gunter and went to find where Entreri had gone after being taken. He found some trampled grass, too small to belong to a deer. He found some footprints heading towards the beach, then some more, fresher ones, coming away from it and going past the trampled grass. The Shadow followed the tracks until he came upon a village. Obviously, he could not just stride in - that would cause panic. He decided to wait until Entreri wandered away from the village.
In the village, Uthag expressed his concern for the missing Gunter. He remembered seeing Gunter cut off on the way to the fortress and flee into the ocean, but aside from that he did not know anything about what had happened to him. Frederick and Uthag decided to head out into the woods to search for him after Frederick told Andy the basics of the natives' spoken language and he could speak to Entreri to learn more and explain it to the pilgrims.
On the outskirts of the village, Patrick set up some dead logs in an obstacle course that challenged him greatly. After running it for the entire day, he felt much more agile. And a bit hurt in some "other" places. +1 Agility (This means the next time I give mass skill upgrades, you will be skipped out on. But it won't be as arbitrary.)
Aiten began socializing with the villagers, finding that Entreri was briefly given a bad reputation for his attack on the pilgrims, but upon his desertion of the cause was hailed as a hero. The villagers are opposed to Lord Bruenor and the successors to both Akar and Entreri.
Decisions for ALL
1: Other.
2: A different other.
3: Try and convince Aiten to shoot an arrow in your knee.

I keep waiting for Enteri, while making sure to avoid being spotted.
Re: New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Spots available!
Patrick shall request a meeting between the people who run the village, the pilgrims and lord enteri, to find out what we do, and within this meeting discuss protection of important people, e.g enteri, and what our further plans will be.
Aiten will try his hand at endurance running, so if he needs to do a lot of that he can do more of it. (endurance training)

I'll practice fighting with some of the town guards

Re: New Lands (Ooh, an RPG) Spots available!
Update #15 31 days until ship arrives, and making another character sounds like a great idea.
In the village, Patrick Eder found a pilgrim who had been taught some of the natives' language and asked him to relay the information. An hour later, Patrick went to Entreri and asked him to hold a meeting. Entreri said that since Frederick was absent, he would hold it tomorrow.
Aiten Javenkis decided to run laps around the village to build up his stamina. +1 Stamina
Myles Luttrel, now adept at speaking the natives' language, asked a guard if he could train against him. The man agreed.
Enteri decided to head to another village further west, across some hills and over a long, barren plain. The Shadow stalked him, and once he descended down the other side of a hill he ran towards him.
Entreri sensed someone's presence, and brought his two blades in front of him. When he saw it was one of his mercenaries, he was shocked. Why did they not just attack the village and deal with him later? There were more defectors in the village.
"Wait. I mean you no harm," The Shadow said, "I just wish to talk."
"About what," Entreri enquired, lowering his blades, "and why?"
"About the topic which Spyboticsguy will explain in his post rather than making a decision.
Out in the forest, Frederick and Uthag came across Gunter's body. They flipped the man onto his stomach and saw that he was alive. He seemed to have been poisoned by the archer with the poisonous arrows. But with more poison than before. The two men lifted Gunter up and carried him back to the village.

I will converse with him about many things, including the honor code and his decision to defect from it. My character has loyalty to Enteri and will, seeing him alive and well, defect to the pilgrims' side if only to protect Enteri. If he does not trust me, I reveal my identity to him and only him. If he trusts me, I hope the pilgrims and villagers will as well. If not, well... I'll try not to kill many on my way out.

Of course, andy; my character was simply motivated by the possible loss of quite a lot of promised gold.
