Star Wars - The Old Republic

Post by wokka1 » 11 Dec 2011, 14:17

Anyone else pre-ordered this game? If so, install it now and get early access on the 13th of Dec, thats a whole week before it opens for everyone else on the 20th.

I'll setup a Guild on a PvE server, Republic side once things kick off, watch this post for info.

Should be a lot of fun to play.

Server I'm on is Shadow Hand, its an US East Coast PVE server, playing as wokka

Exact quote from the e-mail I received about early access:
Spoiler! :
"Early Game Access* will begin on December 13th at 7:00AM EST, 2011 and ends on December 19th, 2011 at 10:01PM EST. During this time, we will be emailing invitations to join Early Game Access based on the order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code. Pre-load the game client now, so you're ready to play when your Early Game Access invitation arrives. Note that download time can vary and may take awhile."

It then goes on to state: "The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code."
I'm not sure how early I'll be getting access to it, but I'll gladly join the guild once I do. I'm still torn on what class to start off with though, as I really enjoyed playing both the Smuggler and Consular during the last Beta testing weekend. >_<

Wait for a trial version to come out, then try it.

Given that I put my preorder code in on the third of December, I probably won't get it until this weekend. Ah well, it'll be worth the wait.

I was going to get it, but then I found out it was a monthly subscription.

I agree with Spy, I would really want to get a lot of games like World Of Warcraft or Star Wars the Old Republic, but all these MMO's have monthly subscriptions so I am not willing to buy it. I have heard some MMO's have gone free, waiting to see if others will.

This Shadow Hand server is quite...full. It seems to be relatively fine in the earlier hours, but once it's around 4pm EST and beyond, it fills up quick. I've already heard people talking of 45+ minute queues, I can only hope it doesn't get too bad during the official release.

Edit: Although, if anything, I can just do something else during that queue time, so it's not all that bad.

Day one, Shadow Hand was a light server, one of the few PvE ones that was, and I guess everyone else saw that and joined it, now its one of the busier ones.

Hopefully it will just be temporary and it will settle down. At least make a toon there and reserve your choice of character names and once I have the guild up, we can get you into it.

The first couple of days when an MMO first starts off will be like this... everyone joins in and starts playing and fun times had by all.
After a few days or so players will get bored and leave allowing players who do not get bored to have more room to play.

Yeah, it'll probably settle down in a few weeks. I've already got a level 28 Jedi Consular (Sage - Telekinetics) on the server. Her name's Innova. I've also got a level 9 Trooper named Rodech. Making a Smuggler and Knight soon just to save the name, but the game's down for maintenance as of this moment.

Funny, I've remembered this thread and tried to add "wokka", and it says "wokka does not exist". It would seem that a player has to be online to be added to someone's list, otherwise it says that they "do not exist".

Odd Rodech, it's let me add players to friends list if they are offline, I play most evenings (server time) from about 7pm to midnight, finally got a guild together and a few of us playing

How about people asking you to stop acting like your opinion is the be all and end all in all matters Mr Expert? It's quite irritating.

Are you on the right server, I just tried to add you with no luck either, but I've added other people who were offline with no problems, either that or they've changed something

Ok, turns out this is a known bug, so adding a friend who isn't online can be buggy, so just keep trying :)
