So in order to poke some discussion, what foods can you not stand even though as a culture you should.
This is just a hate/rant post

Re: I hate vegemite.
Is Vegemite marmite? Yeast extract etc.? Because I love marmite.
As an Englishman, I actually cannot think of any typically "English" foods or drinks that I dislike. I like fish and chips (others may recognise them by the term "fries", but chunkier), Sunday dinner, Full English breakfasts, tea, crumpets, I'd probably like scones if I tried one, muffins, crackers and cheese (as popularised by Wallace and Gromit) and pasties.

Yes, Vegemite is a yeast extract spread, and it tastes like AWESOME on toast. (just DONT eat it by the spoon full!! YOUVE BEEN WARNED)
I like Vegemite, bbq's, meat pies, emu is nice too. Apparently kangaroo and crocodile are good to (yet to try)
one thing i dont like are Pavlovas.

As an American, I love fried everything. Something about an oily bread-like covering on everything just appeals to me. Fried Twinkies, fried chicken, fried pickles... yum.

Even though I am Canadian, I hate maple syrup. It also seems like everyone I know loves seafood too, and I can't stand it. The only seafood I'll eat is canned tuna, as it doesn't really taste like fish, and has the same texture as chicken.

I'm not Japanese, but... nattou.
I ordered this at a small Japanese restaurant in Denver. I'd heard about it -- fermented soybeans, essentially -- thought I'd give it a try.
"I'd like to try the nattou," I said to the Japanese waiter.
"No, you wouldn't," he deadpanned.
He was right. :/

I'm not particularly gone on potatoes. They're alright at best.

Re: I hate vegemite.
Head Cheese... I tried it just to be sure I would not like it and sure enough I did not like it.
Its not really cheese, but it has 'Head' in the name for a reason.
This is really one of the few foods I dislike though, besides this and a few other select foods I am very happy with a lot of food and honestly can't really say what I love the most.

"American" fare has LOTS of yucky foods. I strongly dislike American cheese, peanut butter and pizza. And though it's not specific to the US by any means, I vomitously detest green (or any other color) bell peppers.

I thought American cheese was very, very bad, and no self-respecting enjoyer of cheese was supposed to like it? At least, I know it's absolutely nothing like what would be considered cheese in Europe, with the exception of states like Wisconsin.cjrDanes wrote:I strongly dislike American cheese.

I've had some pretty amazing, non-factory made American cheese before.Lord_Mountbatten wrote:I thought American cheese was very, very bad, and no self-respecting enjoyer of cheese was supposed to like it? Fiddle with the recipe to your tastes. You can't go wrong! Sometimes, it's just the texture called for.
